Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before launch. This follows concerns raised during the first open beta test.
Lowering the GPU Barrier
Capcom's German Twitter (X) account announced performance improvements, particularly highlighting optimized framerates on PS5. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, focusing on lowering the recommended GPU requirements. Currently, the minimum specs include an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in this endeavor would broaden accessibility to players with mid-range hardware. A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess system compatibility.
Addressing Beta Feedback
The initial October/November 2024 beta test revealed performance issues, including low-poly models and framerate drops, even on high-end PCs. Capcom acknowledged these issues, specifically mentioning a fix for afterimage noise in the final release. A second open beta test (February 7-10 & 14-17, 2025) for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam will feature Gypceros and a new monster, though the inclusion of these performance improvements remains unconfirmed.
The ongoing optimization efforts suggest a smoother launch experience is Capcom's goal. The planned benchmarking tool should further alleviate concerns about system compatibility.
