The Dungeon faction, also known as the Warlocks' faction, has always captivated fans of Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era. Our initial foray into Jadame introduced us to creatures intrinsically linked to the Dungeon faction, each with their own established territories on the continent. This allowed developers to weave a faction that honors tradition while embracing fresh concepts.

If we were to encapsulate the essence of the Dungeon faction throughout the series in two words, "power" and "outcasts" would suffice. Returning to the world of Enroth offers a chance to redefine these powerful warlocks. Drawing inspiration from the lore of Jadame, particularly from Might and Magic VIII's Alvaric Pact, we see a reimagined Dungeon faction.

Creatures once considered monsters now form alliances with red-skinned dark elves, a group historically ostracized for their pragmatic approach. Through diplomacy, trade, and strategic agreements, they have forged a stronger collective—a notable evolution from the faction's earlier iterations.

Throughout the Heroes series, the Dungeon faction has been characterized by skilled warlocks and commanding leaders, each game presenting them in unique ways:

  • In Heroes I and Heroes II, followers of Lord Alamar and King Archibald pursued power, rallying creatures with similar ambitions under their banners.
  • In Heroes III, Nighon's warlords championed the idea that strength equates to dominance, governing from subterranean tunnels with aspirations of conquering Antagarich.
  • In Heroes IV, chaotic sorcerers and thieves dwelled in Axeoth's swamps, mobilizing rogues to seize land in the newly forming world.
  • In Heroes V through VII, Ashan's dark elves aligned with the Dragon-Goddess Malassa and the underworld, crafting an intricate narrative of political maneuvering and intrigue.
