Marvel Rivals Comments on 30 FPS Bug

Marvel Rivals' 30 FPS Damage Bug: A Fix on the Horizon

Several Marvel Rivals heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine, are experiencing reduced damage output at lower frame rates (FPS). This bug, affecting damage calculations at 30 FPS, is impacting gameplay for many players.

The developers have acknowledged the problem and are actively working on a solution. While a precise fix date isn't available, the upcoming Season 1 launch on January 11th is expected to address the issue, significantly improving the gaming experience.

Launched in early December 2025, Marvel Rivals quickly gained popularity in the hero shooter genre. Despite initial concerns about hero balance, the game boasts an impressive 80% player approval rating based on over 132,000 Steam reviews.

The 30 FPS damage glitch primarily affects heroes like Dr. Strange, Magik, Star-Lord, Venom, and Wolverine, diminishing the effectiveness of some or all of their attacks at lower frame rates. A community manager confirmed the issue on the official Discord server, noting movement problems at lower FPS that extend to damage dealt. Although a complete fix might take time, the Season 1 update (January 11th) is planned to include a solution. If not fully resolved then, further updates will address any remaining problems.

Addressing the Root Cause: Client-Side Prediction

The root of the problem appears to be the client-side prediction mechanism within the game. This programming technique, designed to minimize perceived lag, seems to be malfunctioning at lower FPS settings.

While the affected heroes and moves haven't been fully listed, Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities are confirmed to be affected. The impact is more noticeable against stationary targets than in live matches. The developers are committed to resolving this issue, either completely with Season 1 or through subsequent patches.
