In a world brimming with video games, finding a truly unique title can be challenging. My Father Lied, however, stands out with its captivating narrative. This mystery/Lovecraftian puzzle adventure boasts a compelling story that sets it apart from the crowd.
My Father Lied: An Indie Developer's Vision
The game's creation story is fascinating. Ahmed Alameen, the developer, initially pursued writing and filmmaking. A college collaboration idea for a game fell through, but the core narrative remained. Alameen, teaching himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine, independently brought his vision to life, even collaborating with his wife on the game's title.
Unraveling the Mystery
The game plunges players into a mystery steeped in ancient Mesopotamian myths, brimming with secrets, puzzles, and surprises. Players assume the role of Huda, a young woman grappling with a twenty-year-old question: what happened to her father? The answer, as the story unfolds, proves far from straightforward.
My Father Lied masterfully blends ancient Mesopotamian culture with modern storytelling. The gameplay features simple point-and-click mechanics, beautiful 2D visuals, and immersive 360-degree images.
