Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward
Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions offer shortcuts to identifying ghosts, but at a cost. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, and this guide details its use and inherent risks.
Utilizing the Voodoo Doll
The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. By sequentially inserting pins, you encourage actions like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprint displays. This is particularly useful when dealing with elusive or inactive spirits.
Ten pins are available, each insertion costing 5% sanity. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt.
The critical risk lies in the heart pin. A random pin is selected each time; hitting the heart pin triggers an immediate Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) hunt near your location.
Despite the risks, the potential for rapid evidence gathering makes the Voodoo Doll a viable tool for well-prepared teams.
Understanding Cursed Possessions
Cursed Possessions (or Cursed Objects) are unique items spawning randomly across Phasmophobia maps, influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode. Unlike standard equipment, they offer ghost manipulation but at increased risk to the player.
The risk-reward profile varies between objects. Using them is optional; no penalties exist for ignoring them. Only one Cursed Possession appears per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
