Application Description

Control your device effortlessly using switches or the front camera. This feature allows you to navigate your phone or tablet seamlessly, enabling you to select items, scroll through content, enter text, and much more, all without needing to touch the screen directly.

Switch Access is an invaluable tool for interacting with your Android device when direct touch isn't an option. It uses one or more switches to make your device accessible and user-friendly.

Getting Started:

  1. Open your device's Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Accessibility > Switch Access.

Setting Up a Switch:

Switch Access scans your screen, highlighting items until you select one. You have various switch options:

  • Physical Switches:

    • USB or Bluetooth switches, such as buttons or keyboards.
    • On-device switches, like volume buttons.
  • Camera Switches:

    • Use facial gestures like opening your mouth, smiling, or raising your eyebrows.
    • Look left, right, or up to navigate.

Scanning Your Device:

Once your switch is set up, you can scan and interact with on-screen elements using different methods:

  • Linear Scanning: Move through items one by one.
  • Row-Column Scanning: Scan rows first, then select items within the chosen row.
  • Point Scanning: Use moving lines to pinpoint a specific horizontal and vertical location, then press "Select".
  • Group Selection: Assign switches to color groupings. Items on the screen are color-coded; press the switch for the color surrounding your desired item and refine your selection.

Using the Menus:

When an element is selected, a menu appears offering various interactions such as selecting, scrolling, copying, pasting, and more. There's also a top menu to help you navigate your device, allowing you to open notifications, return to the home screen, adjust volume, and more.

Navigating with Camera Switches:

Utilize Camera Switches to navigate your phone using facial gestures. This feature lets you browse and select apps using your device's front camera. You can customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your preferences.

Recording Shortcuts:

Record touch gestures to assign to a switch or start from a menu. These can include pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, double tapping, and more. This enables you to execute frequent or complex actions with a single switch, such as turning two pages of an ebook with a swipe left twice.

Permissions Notice:

  • Accessibility Service: As this app is an accessibility service, it can observe your actions, retrieve window content, and monitor the text you type.
