Conquering Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, enhancing gameplay mechanics mastery. While not excessively long, the game features several formidable opponents. Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, demands a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.

Defeating Gyalva: A Strategic Approach

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health (Normal): 1200 HP

Following Guilen's defeat, players navigate the Zone of Lava to encounter Gyalva. The key to victory lies in strategic positioning at either bridge end.

Limited movement options and shifting platforms necessitate precise timing. Players should repeatedly jump to engage Gyalva, utilizing wind magic for maximum damage output within limited timeframes. Mastering this dance of attack and retreat is crucial.

Understanding Gyalva's Attacks

Gyalva, a unique boss absent from the original Ys III, possesses diverse and damaging attacks. While the fight's core mechanics are straightforward, Gyalva can inflict significant damage quickly. The boss frequently traverses the bridge, disrupting the platforms with fiery attacks.

Significant character upgrades are recommended before this encounter. Aim for at least level 21 by eliminating minor enemies.

Spinning Attacks (Two Variations)

Gyalva employs two spinning attacks:

  1. A partial bridge sweep, launching affected platforms into the air. Evade by moving to the unaffected bridge section.
  2. A full bridge traversal, causing all platforms to flip. The only safe position is at either bridge ledge. Avoid the very edge to prevent cornering.

Fire Blast

Gyalva unleashes fireballs, launching platforms upward. While damaging, this attack provides an opportunity to land several hits.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, launching fireballs between them. The timing is unpredictable, but the area is safe once the burst subsides. Careful observation and timing are essential to avoid damage.
