Steam FPS Game Delayed After Dev Sentenced

The Steam FPS title, Fortune's Run, faces an indefinite delay due to its sole developer, Dizzie, receiving a three-year prison sentence. This unique circumstance, unlike typical development halts caused by financial or technical issues, leaves the game in early access limbo.

Prior to this news, Fortune's Run enjoyed positive reception on Steam, praised for its nostalgic art style and engaging gameplay. However, with Dizzie's incarceration beginning in February 2025, all development is suspended. While the game's Steam page targets a 2026 release from early access, this is now highly improbable. Although lengthy early access periods are common for indie games (Satisfactory, for example, spent over five years), a three-year delay is a significant setback.

Dizzie's January 14th Steam update revealed the prison sentence, pre-dating the game's development. Dizzie acknowledged past violent behavior. While not unprecedented in the gaming industry (streamer Johnny Somali also faces legal issues), a prison sentence halting game development is unusual. The original team member departed after a surgery, leaving Dizzie as the sole developer.

Dizzie assures fans that the game's completion is still the goal upon release from prison. The current early access build remains playable, and players can explore other Steam titles while awaiting further updates. The future of Fortune's Run, while uncertain, isn't necessarily over.
