Starfield PS5 Release Hinted by Logo in Creation

Author : Penelope Apr 15,2025

Speculation that Starfield will soon be confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 has intensified following the weekend discovery of a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was spotted on a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield. Although the Creation was quickly removed, fans are buzzing with the possibility that Bethesda’s sci-fi title, which has so far been exclusive to PC and Xbox, may soon find its way to PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

This discovery has sparked discussions about whether Bethesda is planning a significant content update, or perhaps even a new expansion, to coincide with Starfield’s potential PS5 launch. Recent months have been quiet for Starfield updates, especially after the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion. Bethesda’s parent company, Microsoft, is expected to host its annual summer showcase, which could be the perfect platform to announce further details about Starfield.

Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amidst growing player discontent over communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield, and confirmed at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard expressed the studio's goal to release an annual story expansion for Starfield "hopefully for a very long time."

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in years and its first major single-player game since Microsoft’s acquisition of parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN’s Starfield review gave it a 7/10, noting: “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.”

In January, Microsoft’s gaming chief Phil Spencer did not rule out the possibility of Starfield being released on PS5. Reports from as early as March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were under consideration for PS5. While Indiana Jones has been confirmed for a PS5 release in spring 2025, following its debut on PC and Xbox Series X and S, Starfield remains unconfirmed for PS5, though Spencer’s comments hint at its potential.

Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Rare’s Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian’s Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles, alongside numerous other platforms, and is set to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Playground’s Forza Horizon 5 is also confirmed for a PS5 release soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft may finally bring Halo to PlayStation after decades of Xbox exclusivity.

Phil Spencer has stated that Xbox’s multiplatform strategy is partly driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft’s gaming division, especially after the massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company behind Call of Duty. In an interview from last August, Spencer emphasized Microsoft's business approach, saying, “We run a business. It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450 employees, is currently juggling multiple projects across five teams, including Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile gaming, and external development partnerships.
