Smite 2 Is Now Free-to-Play

Summary

Smite 2's free-to-play open beta is now live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. Titan Forge Games has released a new patch introducing Aladdin as a playable god, along with other exciting content additions. The open beta reinstates the popular 3v3 Joust mode, and the developers promise ambitious new content throughout 2025.

Smite 2, revealed a year ago as a Unreal Engine 5-powered sequel to the popular MOBA, offers a significantly enhanced experience. Visuals and combat mechanics are refined, and a revamped item shop provides greater item accessibility regardless of god choice. Maintaining the core Smite gameplay of 5v5 battles and team sieges, Smite 2 features gods from diverse cultures. Following a successful closed alpha, the open beta is now available to all players.

Starting January 14th, the Smite 2 open beta launched on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck, offering a free download. This update introduces Aladdin, a unique god designed specifically for Smite 2. Possessing wall-running abilities and a unique revival mechanic tied to his companion's three wishes, Aladdin's ultimate ability involves capturing enemies for a 1v1 duel.

Smite 2's Free-to-Play Open Beta: New Content Highlights

  • Five new gods, including Aladdin, a completely new addition.
  • Return of the beloved 3v3 Joust mode.
  • A brand-new Arthurian-themed map.
  • Conquest map updates.
  • Alpha version of the Assault game mode.
  • New optional god enhancements ("Aspects").
  • Free download available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck.

The new gods joining the roster include Geb (Egyptian God of Earth), Mulan (Chinese Ascendant Warrior), Agni (Hindu Pantheon), and Ullr (Norse Pantheon). In addition to the new gods, the popular Joust mode returns, offering 3v3 battles on a smaller map. The Conquest and Assault game modes are also included in the open beta.

Titan Forge Games' creative director has stated that Smite 2 is objectively superior to its predecessor in several aspects. The developers thanked players for their feedback during the closed alpha, promising ambitious content releases for Smite 2 throughout 2025.

While available on most major platforms, Smite 2 is currently absent from the Nintendo Switch due to concerns regarding performance. However, Titan Forge Games remains open to bringing Smite 2 to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future. Smite fans can now enjoy the open beta on their preferred platform.
