Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn

Author : Scarlett Mar 21,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is making significant changes to its trading system, addressing player concerns about accessibility. The update completely removes Trade Tokens, replacing them with Shinedust. Shinedust is earned by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens will be automatically converted to Shinedust.

Further adjustments are planned for Shinedust, including its use in obtaining flair. A future update will also introduce an in-game function to share cards you wish to trade.

The initial trading system faced criticism due to the difficulty in obtaining the necessary currency and restrictive trading parameters. These limitations stemmed from the need to prevent abuse within the digital trading environment.

While these changes are welcomed, the implementation timeline extends into autumn, a considerable delay from the spring announcement. This suggests a slower-than-desired pace of development.
