Nintendo's Alarmo Alarm Clock: Wider Release and Enhanced Features
Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is set for a broader release in March 2025, as announced via their official Twitter (X) account. This expansion means Alarmo will be readily available at major retailers globally, including Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized retailers.
A Key Difference: No More Nintendo Online Requirement
A significant change with this wider release is the removal of the Nintendo Online subscription requirement. Previously, access was limited to subscribers. Now, anyone can purchase Alarmo for $99.99 USD.
Initial Release Frenzy: High Demand and Sold-Out Status
The initial release of Alarmo on October 9, 2024, saw incredibly high demand. In Japan, sales were temporarily suspended on the My Nintendo Store, shifting to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online members due to overwhelming orders. Simultaneously, Alarmo sold out in a New York City store.
Alarmo's Engaging Features: Game-Themed Wake-Up Calls
Alarmo boasts a unique feature set. It uses sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo games, including Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, offering 42 selectable scenes with more to be added via free updates.
The alarm experience involves a game character appearing on screen, then gently waking you with sounds. A "visitor" arrives if you linger, prompting you to get up. The alarm's motion sensor allows silencing without touching the device.
Beyond the core alarm function, Alarmo provides hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking, monitoring time spent in bed and movement. For households with multiple people or pets, the Button Mode is recommended.
The expanded release in March 2025 makes this innovative alarm clock accessible to a wider audience, promising a fun and engaging wake-up experience.
