Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki displayed a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement clarifying the situation. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's confirmation that the images and videos circulating are not official. The company explicitly stated that Genki's showcased hardware is unofficial and was not provided by Nintendo.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and video game console accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by presenting what they claimed was a 3D-printed model of the Switch 2, along with alleged release date information shared with journalists and attendees. Their website even features a dedicated page for prospective Switch 2 accessories, further fueling speculation.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo has yet to make any substantial announcements regarding the Switch 2, only confirming its upcoming reveal and the inclusion of backward compatibility with Switch 1 games. This official denial from Nintendo suggests an imminent official unveiling of the console may be necessary to address the ongoing speculation.
