Netflix is partnering with the creators of the acclaimed video game Sifu to bring its action-packed story to the silver screen. First announced in 2022, and initially developed by Story Kitchen and Sloclap (the game's developer), the film adaptation has now expanded its production team, according to Deadline.

The project has added T.S. Nowlin (known for Maze Runner and Netflix's Project Adam) to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement, who previously worked on adapting Sifu's narrative, is currently unclear.

Adding further weight to the production, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise, and his company 87Eleven Entertainment will serve as executive producers. Interestingly, Stahelski is also involved in another major video game adaptation: Ghost of Tsushima.

Sifu, released in 2022, rapidly gained popularity, exceeding one million copies sold in its first three weeks. The game follows a young martial artist's quest for revenge after their master's assassination. Using a mystical pendant that allows resurrection but accelerates aging, the protagonist faces a challenging path filled with peril and mystery.
