Marvel Rivals Season 1: A Deep Dive into the New Maps

Marvel Rivals' first season continues to expand its offerings with a wealth of new content. Beyond the addition of Fantastic Four heroes and cosmetic items, the game introduces several new maps themed around Marvel's New York City. Let's explore each one:

Table of Contents

  • Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown
  • Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum
  • Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park

Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown

Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown Map

Launched at the start of Season 1, Midtown is a Convoy map designed for Marvel Rivals' payload-style game mode. Players either escort or defend a moving vehicle across the map. This is the third Convoy map in Rivals, joining Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands.

Midtown depicts a New York City shrouded in the darkness of Dracula's Blood Moon. Key Points of Interest include iconic Marvel locations and real-world Midtown Manhattan landmarks:

  • Baxter Building
  • Grand Central Terminal
  • Stark/Avengers Tower
  • Fisk Tower
  • Ardmore's Bookstore
  • Timely Trend

Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum

Empire of Eternal Night: Sanctum Santorum Map

This unique rendition of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Santorum is the only map currently featuring the Doom Match mode – a free-for-all deathmatch. Top-performing players earn wins, with the best player receiving MVP.

The map faithfully recreates Doctor Strange's home and headquarters, first introduced in a 1963 comic and later popularized by the MCU. The Sanctum Santorum in Rivals is depicted as Earth's supernatural defense, complete with hidden secrets, impossible architecture, portals, and even Bats the Ghost Dog!

Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park

Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park Map

Expected to launch in the latter half of Season 1, Central Park is set in Manhattan, between the Upper West and Upper East Sides. Previously featured in various Marvel media, including the recent Marvel's Spider-Man 2 game, the Rivals version will likely center around a stylized Belvedere Castle, situated at one of the park's highest points. Its Gothic architecture makes it a fitting location for the Empire of Eternal Night theme and a potential Dracula hideout.

These are all the new maps currently planned for Marvel Rivals Season 1.
