The King of Fighters AFK is now available in early access for Thailand and Canada! Fans in these regions can download the game immediately from the Google Play Store or the iOS App Store. Early access players are guaranteed to recruit Mature, a powerful Orochi Clan member, for their team.
While the previous mobile title, King of Fighters Allstar, is no longer active, this new installment offers a retro RPG-inspired twist on the classic fighting game franchise. Netmarble has confirmed that player progress during early access will carry over to the full release.
King of Fighters AFK features a roster of beloved characters from the original series, allowing players to build diverse 5v5 teams and engage in strategic battles. However, the game's departure from the original beat-'em-up style and the absence of crossovers (unlike King of Fighters Allstar's collaborations, such as with WWE) might present a challenge in winning back some fans.
The game does offer some appealing elements, including Neo-Geo Pocket-inspired character sprites and the guaranteed addition of Mature to early access players' rosters. Whether it can overcome potential fan skepticism remains to be seen.
