Idris Elba Pitches Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action with Keanu Reeves
Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has expressed strong interest in a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation alongside Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, promoting his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (which also features Reeves), Elba enthusiastically stated that a live-action Cyberpunk film featuring himself and Reeves would be "Whoa." He envisions a powerful on-screen dynamic between their characters.
Elba's enthusiasm isn't entirely unfounded. Variety reported in October 2023 that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project is in development, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action Witcher series suggests a strong potential for a Cyberpunk live-action adaptation.
For those eager for more Cyberpunk content, a prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched. Written by Bartosz Sztybor, it will explore the backstory of Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew. A Blu-ray release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is also planned for 2025. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red has hinted at a new Cyberpunk 2077 animated series in the works.
