Take-Two Interactive Re-affirms Grand Theft Auto 6 Fall 2025 Release
Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, has reiterated its commitment to a Fall 2025 release window for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation comes following their third-quarter financial report ending December 31, 2024.
While acknowledging the inherent risk of delays in game development, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the Fall 2025 target, stating that Take-Two "feel[s] really good about it." He emphasized Rockstar's dedication to quality, highlighting the game's high anticipation and the company's competitive landscape. Zelnick remained tight-lipped regarding specific development updates.
The anticipation surrounding GTA 6's release is immense, influencing the strategies of competitors. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently alluded to potential Battlefield delays contingent on competitor release schedules, a clear reference to GTA 6's impact.
Despite the confirmed release window, the highly anticipated second trailer remains unreleased, fueling fan speculation over a year after the first trailer's debut. Other points of ongoing discussion include the potential for a PC release and the game's performance on a hypothetical PS5 Pro console.
Take-Two's financial report also showcased the continued success of Grand Theft Auto 5, which has now sold over 210 million units globally. GTA Online also performed strongly, boosted by the "Agents of Sabotage" update, and GTA+ memberships saw a 10% year-over-year increase. Red Dead Redemption 2 also continues to perform well, reaching record concurrent player numbers on Steam.
Take-Two's 2025 release schedule is packed, including Civilization VII, PGA Tour 2K25, WWE 2K25, Mafia: The Old Country, and Borderlands 4, alongside the anticipated GTA 6 launch. The company expressed strong optimism about the commercial success of its upcoming titles.
