GTA 5 Enhanced: Steam's Lowest-Rated GTA Title

Author : Simon Mar 13,2025

Rockstar's enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5, launched in March, hasn't exactly been a hit on Steam. The game boasts a "mixed" user review rating, with only 54% of the nearly 20,000 reviews positive. This is a stark contrast to the original GTA 5, which held a "very positive" rating before being unlisted on Steam at Rockstar's request. In fact, GTA 5 Enhanced currently holds the dubious distinction of being the lowest-rated GTA game on Steam, even underperforming Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition's 66% positive rating.

This free upgrade for PC players includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online, such as Hao's Special Works content, animal encounters, and GTA+ Membership access. It also boasts improved graphics and faster loading times, and allows migration of Story Mode and Online progress.

Many players report encountering an error message stating their profile is ineligible for migration. This has led to considerable frustration, with some players threatening to abandon hundreds of hours of gameplay. The inability to migrate accounts is a major source of negative feedback.

Despite these issues, GTA 5 Enhanced remains incredibly popular on Steam, peaking at 187,059 concurrent players since launch. However, these problems have fueled concerns about the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, with some PC gamers fearing a repeat of these launch difficulties.
