Google Play Store may soon eliminate the "download-and-forget" app problem with a new auto-launch feature. This potential addition, discovered through an APK teardown, would automatically open newly installed apps.
The Details
Android Authority reports Google is developing "App Auto Open," a feature that would launch apps immediately upon download completion. This would eliminate the need to manually locate and open the app. The feature's existence is currently unconfirmed, as it's based on an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19. However, the teardown suggests the feature will be entirely optional, allowing users to enable or disable auto-launch as desired.
How it Might Work
Upon successful app installation, a notification banner would appear at the top of the screen for approximately 5 seconds, possibly accompanied by a sound or vibration. This ensures users won't miss the notification, even if multitasking.
Release Date?
While the information remains unofficial, we’ll provide an update as soon as Google releases an official announcement regarding the launch date of this handy feature.
