GAMM: Italy

Rome's newest and largest video game museum, GAMM (Game Museum), has officially opened its doors to the public! Located in Piazza della Repubblica, this exciting new venture is the brainchild of Marco Accordi Rickards, a writer, journalist, professor, and CEO of Vigamus.

Rickards, a passionate advocate for preserving and celebrating video game history, describes GAMM as an immersive journey blending historical context, technological innovation, and interactive gameplay exploration. The museum builds upon the legacy of Vigamus, another successful Rome-based gaming museum that has attracted over two million visitors since 2012.

GAMM boasts an impressive 700 square meters of exhibition space across two floors, divided into three captivating thematic areas. Before delving into the specifics, take a sneak peek at the museum!

Explore GAMM's Interactive Exhibits:

  • GAMMDOME: A digital playground featuring interactive stations alongside authentic gaming artifacts, including consoles, donated items, and other historical objects. The GAMMDOME adheres to the 4E concept: Experience, Exhibition, Education, and Entertainment.

  • Path of Arcadia (PARC): Step back in time to the golden age of arcade games! Relive the classics from the late 1970s through the 1980s, with a touch of early 1990s nostalgia.

  • Historical Playground (HIP): This area offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at game design, allowing visitors to analyze game mechanics, interaction structures, and design principles. It's essentially a backstage pass to gaming history.

GAMM is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays until 11:30 PM. Tickets are €15. For more information, visit the official GAMM website.
