Disney's SXSW "Future of World-Building" panel unveiled exciting updates for Disney Parks. Josh D'Amaro and Alan Bergman highlighted collaborative efforts between Disney Experiences and Disney Entertainment, resulting in immersive new experiences. Key announcements include:

The Mandalorian and Grogu Join Smuggler's Run

The Mandalorian and Grogu will embark on a new mission aboard Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, launching May 22, 2026, alongside The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. Jon Favreau, alongside Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama, shared concept art showcasing locations like Tatooine's Jawa Sandcrawler, the Millennium Falcon and Razor Crest near Bespin's Cloud City, and even the wreckage of the second Death Star above Endor. This new story, filmed on The Mandalorian & Grogu set, will unfold parallel to, but not directly retell, the film's events. Additionally, the popular BDX droids will expand to Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris, with a new Anzellan droid, Otto, joining the ranks. These droids will also appear in The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Monsters, Inc. Attraction: Load Area and Lift-Off Revealed

A sneak peek at the load area and lift-off sequence for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. roller coaster at Disney World's Hollywood Studios was revealed. This attraction, Disney's first suspended and vertically-lifting coaster, promises a thrilling journey through the Monsters, Inc. door vault.

Magic Kingdom's Cars Attraction: A New Kind of Ride Vehicle

Pixar's Pete Docter and Imagineer Michael Hundgen detailed the innovative ride vehicles for the new Cars-themed land at Magic Kingdom. To create an emotionally resonant experience, Imagineers designed a completely new type of vehicle, undergoing extensive testing in the Arizona desert and on a custom-built dirt track. Each vehicle will boast a unique personality, name, and number, adding to the immersive experience. This rally race through the mountains, not set in Radiator Springs, prioritizes a thrilling and authentic feel.

Avengers Campus Expansion: Robert Downey Jr. on Stark Flight Lab

Robert Downey Jr. joined the panel to discuss Avengers Campus' upcoming attractions. He highlighted the "Stark Enterprises mission statement" embodied in the new experiences, emphasizing innovation and fun. Stark Flight Lab will immerse guests in Tony Stark's workshop, utilizing "gyro-kinetic pods" manipulated by a giant robotic arm inspired by DUM-E, performing high-speed maneuvers. The attraction’s innovative technology will be a central element of the experience.
