FFVII Remake Part 3 Development Progressing

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he confirmed.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous awards and global player engagement. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the unique challenges promised in the third game of the trilogy.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned Grand Theft Auto VI as a game that caught his attention this year. He expressed his admiration for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specifics regarding the third installment remain under wraps, though Hamaguchi assures fans that development is progressing smoothly. Considering the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth less than a year ago, this simultaneous development is noteworthy. However, he emphasized that players can anticipate a truly unique experience.

Despite the positive outlook on the sequel, Final Fantasy XVI's May 2024 launch sales underperformed, falling short of projected figures for the fiscal year. Precise sales numbers remain undisclosed, as do the most recent sales figures for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also failed to meet expectations. Square Enix, however, has clarified that they do not view the sales of Rebirth as a complete failure, and maintains confidence that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the allocated 18-month timeframe.
