DOOM: The Dark Ages Will Introduce Its Own Marauder

Introducing Agadon the Hunter, the formidable new adversary set to replace the Marauder in *DOOM: The Dark Ages*. Unlike the Marauder, Agadon isn't merely an upgrade but an entirely new challenge, crafted by blending characteristics from various bosses. This enemy is adept at dodging, evading, and even deflecting the Doom Slayer's projectiles. Players will encounter a range of combo attacks, necessitating the use of a sawtooth shield reminiscent of *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*, a title that significantly inspired the developers. Facing Agadon will be the ultimate test of every skill players have honed throughout the game, culminating in a challenging final exam.

The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a demanding boss similar to the Marauder, confident that players are eager for more intense challenges. Previously, the problem wasn't the difficulty itself but the way it was introduced and explained to players. Many mechanics needed to defeat the Marauder were unfamiliar, as they hadn't been used earlier in the campaign, leading to a jarring shift in gameplay and player frustration. To mitigate this, the developers aim to introduce mechanics more gradually and ensure better player preparation.

*DOOM: The Dark Ages* is slated for release on May 15, 2025, and will be available on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC via Steam.
