Days Gone Remastered Now Available for $10 on PS5

Author : Benjamin Feb 23,2025

Sony's recent State of Play showcase highlighted Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. The $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster is only available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 version (disc or digital). PS Plus subscribers who redeemed the game through the service (either PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential offering) are ineligible for the discounted upgrade and must pay the full $49.99 price.

This decision has prompted widespread online complaints. Many PS Plus subscribers express their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but will now avoid the remastered version entirely. Reddit discussions highlight the potential lost revenue for Sony, as many users state they would have considered the $10 upgrade as a way to try the game, even briefly. Several commenters criticize Sony's strategy, labeling it "stingy" and "awkward," particularly given the game's prior free availability through PS Plus. Some argue that the game didn't require a remaster in the first place.

While some acknowledge Sony likely performed financial analysis justifying the restriction, the policy has alienated some loyal fans. The Days Gone Remastered announcement was just one of several PlayStation game reveals at the February 2025 State of Play event.
