Revue Starlight Re LIVE is officially shutting down. The mobile game, based on the popular anime, will cease operation on September 30th, 2024, at 07:00 UTC, ending nearly six years of service.
Why the Shutdown?
While initially a promising extension of the Revue Starlight universe, featuring a strategic battle system and appealing visuals, Revue Starlight Re LIVE ultimately struggled. Factors contributing to its closure include repetitive events, reused assets, and expensive battle passes. Furthermore, inconsistent and poorly received plot developments, such as the abrupt character shift from The Giraffe, negatively impacted player engagement. The shutdown affects the game globally, including Japan.
Positive Aspects and Final Events
Despite its challenges, the game boasted a strong soundtrack featuring anime music, impressive 3D graphics, and engaging Live2D animations. Developers are offering players a chance to enjoy the game's remaining weeks with several farewell events in August and September. These include a "Thank You For Everything" campaign with daily free pulls and a two-month birthday celebration featuring new character gacha events.
