The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
The recently concluded game reveal event for The Blood of Dawnwalker shed light on this upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG. Prepare to delve into the captivating world of Vale Sangora!
Embark on Coen's Journey
Players will embody Coen, a Dawnwalker—a unique being existing between human and vampire—in a fictional 14th-century medieval European setting. Unlike typical protagonists, Coen is portrayed as emotionally complex and vulnerable. His quest? To save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe, against the backdrop of a crumbling civilization ruled by the antagonist Brencis, a powerful vampire. While the game features a time constraint, developers emphasize extensive gameplay hours.
Coen possesses supernatural abilities, showcased in the trailer by his agility and magical prowess. While many questions remain, Rebel Wolves (the studio behind the game, comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers) addressed some common queries via their Discord server.
Dawnwalkers are neither fully human nor vampire, but a distinct entity. The game's magic system, unlike typical high fantasy, focuses on occult practices—rituals, amulets, and summonings—rather than flashy spells.
A Narrative Sandbox with Rich Interactions
The Blood of Dawnwalker promises a narrative sandbox experience, prioritizing player agency and choice. The nonlinear storyline will adapt to player decisions, offering multiple paths to the central goal of saving Coen's family. To maintain the single-player focus, there will be no multiplayer or co-op modes. However, romanceable characters from diverse races (including uriashi and kobolds) are planned, adding depth to Coen's journey.
Currently, there's no confirmed release date, but The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
