Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new, single-player Batman game.

Specifics remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate universe. However, a source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond game, placing players in a futuristic Gotham City. Their goal? A full trilogy. The game's anticipated release is on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was celebrated for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive project yet. The Batman Beyond setting also addresses a significant challenge: Batman's voice. Following the passing of Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne – mirroring Warner Bros. Montreal's plans for a canceled Batman: Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content within a year. A rushed animated conclusion retconned controversial plot points, revealing that seemingly deceased characters were actually clones.

Rocksteady is now returning to its strengths, creating a new solo Batman experience. However, sources indicate the game is still several years from release.
