Obsidian's Avowed: Xbox Series X Performance Confirmed

Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a MinnMax interview. While she didn't elaborate on specifics, the Xbox Series S version will remain capped at 30fps, as previously announced.

Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes (60fps with lower visuals vs. 30fps with enhanced visuals) remains unconfirmed. It's unclear if the 60fps target on the Series X is the default setting or a selectable option.

The game launches on February 13th for those purchasing the premium edition ($89.99), with the standard edition ($69.99) releasing on February 18th. This staggered release strategy, employed by several publishers, has already been abandoned by some, like Ubisoft.

Avowed, set within the Pillars of Eternity universe, is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player agency. Players will unravel a narrative filled with war, mystery, and intrigue, forging alliances and rivalries along the way.

IGN's final preview lauded the game's engaging dialogue, player freedom, and overall enjoyable experience, stating simply, "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
