Mastering Weapon and Armor Upgrades in Avowed: A Comprehensive Guide
Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly challenging enemies. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your gear is crucial. This guide details how to enhance weapons and armor in Avowed.
Upgrade Location: Workbenches
Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above). These require specific materials depending on the item type and Quality. Most materials are readily available through exploration or crafting. However, advancing an item's Quality demands progressively rarer Adra variants.
Workbenches are situated at Party Camps, established near Adra Waystones. Locate a Waystone, interact with it, and select the option to create a Party Camp. These camps are marked on your map with a tent icon and offer fast travel capabilities.
Understanding Weapon and Armor Levels
Avowed employs a two-tiered system for gear power: Quality and Additional Upgrades.
Quality: Represented by a numerical value, color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and descriptive adjective. Quality directly correlates to enemy levels in the Living Lands. Lower Quality gear is ineffective against higher-level foes. Weapons and armor perform optimally against enemies of equal or lower Quality.
Additional Upgrades: Within each Quality level (+0 to +3), further upgrades are possible. These offer less significant boosts than Quality increases but are essential before advancing to the next Quality tier.
Strategic Gear Upgrades
Beyond Quality and additional upgrades, Avowed categorizes gear as standard or Unique.
Standard Gear: Commonly found as loot or purchased from merchants. These items have a limited upgrade path, typically maxing out at Superb Quality.
Unique Gear: Named items obtained through quests, boss drops, or occasionally from merchants. These boast superior stats, perks, and can reach Legendary Quality.
Prioritize Unique Gear
Focus your upgrade resources on Unique weapons and armor. Standard gear serves as temporary replacements and can be sold or salvaged for materials. Maximize the potential of your Unique items for optimal combat performance.
