Evercade expands its Super Pocket handheld line with Atari and Technos editions. These new handhelds will feature classic games from the respective platforms. A limited-edition wood-grain Atari Super Pocket, with only 2600 units produced, will also be available.
Game preservation remains a contentious issue, but Evercade offers a legitimate alternative to expensive secondhand purchases or emulation.
The Evercade Super Pocket, already available in Capcom and Taito editions, adds Atari and Technos to its lineup in October 2024. These new versions provide official access to a range of retro titles.
A Retro Revival
The resurgence of interest in retro gaming is evident, and Evercade's official releases are a welcome addition. While some might consider the limited-run wood-grain Atari console a marketing tactic, its appeal to collectors is undeniable (assuming it's genuine wood grain).
The Super Pocket's compatibility with existing Evercade cartridges offers portable retro gaming convenience. Users can easily switch between handheld and home console play.
