Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, launching this March, has added a star-studded voice to its cast. Mackenyu Arata, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece, will voice a key character.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows: A New Recruit
Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo
Mackenyu will provide both the English and Japanese voice acting for Gennojo, a pivotal character within Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a compelling figure: a charming rogue with a conflicted past, driven by guilt to reform a corrupt system. He's a charismatic trickster, balancing wit, deception, and confidence. His strong sense of justice, particularly towards the vulnerable, belies his outwardly reckless demeanor. His ultimate goal—to dismantle the corrupt system—motivates him to risk everything.
While the precise timing of Gennojo's appearance remains undisclosed, his role in key missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo belongs to a group known as the "Shinobi League," and players can essentially recruit him as a companion throughout their adventure.
