The Witcher's Newest Animated Adventure

A Coastal Conflict on the Continent

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Arrives in FebruaryNetflix Tudum, the streaming giant's official news source, announced The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, debuting February 11, 2025. This animated film adapts Andrzej Sapkowski's short story, "A Little Sacrifice," from Sword of Destiny.

The story unfolds in a coastal village, where a centuries-long conflict between humans and merfolk compels a Continent kingdom to enlist a Witcher's aid. Instead of the usual monsters, Geralt faces a unique challenge: battling merpeople.

Dogue Cockle returns as the voice of Geralt. Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra reprise their roles as Jaskier and Yennefer, respectively. Christina Wren (Will Trent) joins the cast as the new character, Essi Daven.

Sapkowski acts as a creative consultant, while Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin (writers for the live-action series) penned the script. Kang Hei Chul, storyboard artist for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, directs the film.

A Story Within Season 1 of the Live-Action Series

Netflix's Witcher Animated Movie Arrives in FebruaryThe film's timeline slots neatly between episodes 5 and 6 of the first season of the live-action Witcher series. Following Geralt and Yennefer's reunion in Rinde after the Djinn incident in episode 5 ("Bottled Appetites"), Geralt is hired to resolve a monstrous threat near the coast.

Considering Rinde's proximity to Redania and Temeria, the film likely takes place within or near these kingdoms. "A Little Sacrifice" suggests Bremervoord City in Temeria, ruled by Duke Agloval, as a possible location. However, the film's adherence to the short story remains to be seen.
