Player First Games announced the upcoming closure of MultiVersus, its Warner Bros. platform fighter. Season 5, launching February 4th, 2025, will be the game's last, with online services ending May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. This information was revealed in a blog post on the studio's website.

The game, released May 28th, 2024, will remain playable offline after the online servers shut down. Players will retain access to all earned and purchased content through local and training modes. The MultiVersus team expressed gratitude for player support in a statement.

It's been an incredible ride, MVPs. Thank you for all the support. For more details, please visit our blog post https://t.co/tLVzpA9JaQ and FAQ https://t.co/XKuxAnd26j. pic.twitter.com/VLzBDbP0GQ

Real-money transactions are now disabled, but Gleamium and character tokens can be used until the May 30th deadline. MultiVersus will be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store concurrently.

The closure follows reports of MultiVersus' underperformance for Warner Bros. Discovery, resulting in a $100 million writedown, contributing to a larger $300 million writedown for the games sector, as stated in a November financial call. This followed the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and was also coupled with the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.

Despite the closure, Season 5 will include new content, notably the addition of Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass) as playable characters. These additions will launch alongside the season.
