World of Warcraft has unveiled an exciting new feature for players: campsites, which are collectible backgrounds that can be used to customize the character select screens. With the release of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, fans can look forward to collecting four new campsites, with more planned for future updates.

Blizzard has recently announced new ways for players to personalize their Warband's character select screen. Patch 11.1 introduces the ability to set up multiple camps for one's characters, each customizable with names and unlockable backgrounds.

Now that Patch 11.1 is available on the World of Warcraft Public Test Realm, fans have had a closer look at this new system, including the first set of backgrounds and their acquisition methods. In addition to the original Warbands character selection screen, named Adventurer’s Rest, there are four new campsites to collect in Patch 11.1: Ohn’ahran Overlook, Cultists’ Quay, Freywold Spring, and Gallagio Grand Gallery. WoW content creator MrGM has already released a helpful video showcasing most of these campsites and how to obtain them.

The Ohn’ahran Overlook, featuring the Ohn'ahran Plains from Dragonflight, is automatically obtained by logging in after Patch 11.1. The Cultists’ Quay, located in the Nightfall Sanctum Delve in Hallowfall, is earned through the Delver’s Journey for Season 2. The Freywold Spring from the village of the same name and the Gallagio Grand Gallery, featured in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1’s new raid, Liberation of Undermine, are unlocked by completing the "All That Khaz" and "Racing to a Revolution" meta-achievements, respectively.

These campsites and their acquisition methods can be found in a new tab within the Collections pane, allowing players to easily preview and unlock them. On the character select screen, a new tab at the top enables fans to choose campsites for their characters or even select randomly between favorite backgrounds each time they log in.

These customizable character selection screens build on the framework established by the Warbands system introduced in World of Warcraft: The War Within, demonstrating Blizzard's commitment to innovating upon this feature in the future. Fans can anticipate unlocking campsites alongside mounts, pets, and other collectibles as more are added, not only in new content but also in old areas, holiday events, the Trading Post, and even the cash shop.
