Hazelight Games proudly announced that their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has sold an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as a major success for the studio. Hazelight took to social media to express their gratitude, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio previously shared that Split Fiction reached 1 million sales merely 48 hours after its launch, showcasing the rapid popularity of Mio and Zoe’s sci-fi narrative. This means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, highlighting the game's sustained appeal.

As a co-op game, Split Fiction likely engages far more players than the number of copies sold suggests, thanks to its innovative Friend’s Pass feature. This allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, significantly expanding its reach. With the game continuing to generate buzz on social media, the sales figures are expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its March 2021 launch, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an astounding 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, the game was praised as “an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another,” underscoring its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
