This clarification comes after the game's brief appearance at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, which led many to believe that Silksong might bypass the current-generation console.
Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release For Switch 1
Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the original Switch, Silksong has since been confirmed for PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well. However, the recent Switch 2 Direct caused some confusion among fans about the game's platform availability. Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, took to Twitter (X) on April 8 to address these concerns. He reassured the community that Silksong will be available on both the original Switch and the Switch 2.
While details on how the versions will differ remain under wraps, it's expected that the Switch 2 version will benefit from the console's enhanced capabilities, likely offering higher resolution and improved performance.
New Silksong Images Revealed
Following the Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo Japan's official website released new images of Silksong. These images, while featuring familiar locations from previous reveals, showcase noticeable graphical enhancements since their initial showcase in 2019. Although Team Cherry remains largely silent about the game's specifics, the recent activity, including the Switch 2 Direct appearance and new images, hints at an imminent release date announcement. Additionally, changes in Silksong's Steam metadata have further fueled fans' hopes for a 2025 release.
