Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to progress, as confirmed by Team Cherry’s Marketing and PR Manager Matthew Griffin. Dive into the latest details and ongoing speculations surrounding this highly anticipated game!
This Is Not A Joke, Silksong Is Real
Confirmed By Team Cherry’s Griffin
Following the buzz about a mysterious cake that sparked rampant speculation, Hollow Knight fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Team Cherry’s Marketing and Publishing Head, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, took to X (formerly Twitter) to assure fans that Silksong is indeed real and actively being developed. This reassurance came after a fan's plea for any sign that the game was still in the works.
The speculation began when Hollow Knight co-creator William Pellen changed his X profile picture to an image of a cake, igniting theories about an impending Silksong ARG or an announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2. The excitement reached a fever pitch until YouTuber fireb0rn contacted Griffin to clarify the situation. It turned out that the cake was simply a playful profile change, with fireb0rn humorously tweeting, "Apologies to have misled everyone. The cake was a lie."
Despite the cake debacle, Griffin reaffirmed the project's status, stating, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This is the first update fans have received in over a year and a half, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the long wait.
Silksong’s Six-Year-Long History
First announced in February 2019, Silksong was initially set to launch in the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expansive scope and their desire to refine it further. Silksong promises to transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and feature a challenging new mode called Silk Soul. After nearly two years of silence, this recent update, though brief, is a welcome relief.
The response to this news has been mixed. Some fans express gratitude and encouragement, urging Team Cherry not to rush the development due to external pressures. Others, however, are growing impatient after nearly six years of anticipation, feeling that the updates provided are too minimal for such a long-awaited title.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Players will follow Hornet, the protector-princess of Hallownest, on her perilous journey through an unfamiliar world to reach the kingdom's peak. While no specific release window has been announced, stay tuned for more updates and announcements on this eagerly awaited sequel!
