Recent claims suggest the project may have been indefinitely halted, dashing the hopes of many fans. This unsettling news comes from Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a veteran of the acclaimed Syphon Filter series.
Smith’s X post alleges that development on the SW: KotOR Remake has ceased completely, contradicting Saber Interactive’s 2024 statement that development was ongoing. He further claims that some team members have been reassigned, while others have unfortunately been laid off. Should this prove accurate, it would represent a devastating blow to those eagerly awaiting the iconic RPG’s remake.
It’s important to note Smith’s track record. While he has accurately predicted industry news in the past—for example, a new Housemarque game—his predictions regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima release dates were ultimately incorrect. Therefore, his latest statement should be viewed with a degree of caution.
