World of Warcraft is introducing two new mounts, the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al’ar, as part of exclusive promotions in China. These mounts, currently unavailable in other regions, are reimagined versions of the rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al’ar, which drop from raid bosses in the game.
Following the reestablished partnership between NetEase and Blizzard last year, World of Warcraft made a triumphant return to China. The celebration included unique additions like the Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the new Xiao Liu pet with teleportation capabilities.
Now, WoW China is preparing for another exciting promotion starting January 15, featuring the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al’ar. These mounts are recolored and redesigned versions of the Pureblood Fire Hawk and the Ashes of Al’ar, two of the rarest mounts in World of Warcraft. They will be available through twin parallel promotions and can be used in both modern and Classic WoW.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotion Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, reminiscent of the Pureblood Fire Hawk dropped by Ragnaros in the Firelands raid from WoW: Cataclysm, includes xiangyun or "auspicious clouds" within its wings. These clouds symbolize peace, immortality, and good fortune, deeply rooted in Chinese culture for over 3000 years. The Golden Ashes of Al’ar, a gilded take on the Ashes of Al’ar from Kael’thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade’s The Eye raid, features a sleek black saddle and flavor text that echoes Kael’thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is available through an event called the Treasure Workshop, though specifics remain undisclosed. Meanwhile, the Golden Ashes of Al’ar can be obtained from Landro’s Loot Box, priced at ¥200, approximately $27. Each box contains one of eight items, including other prestigious rewards like the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the Swift Spectral Tiger from the discontinued World of Warcraft TCG. Players can form teams and receive additional crates by reaching certain spending milestones.
While there is no indication that the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk or Golden Ashes of Al’ar will be released internationally like the Xiao Liu pet, it's not entirely out of the question. For now, players outside China can only admire these stunning mounts from a distance.
