Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's "Snakelike" Mass Outbreak Event
A special Mass Outbreak event is underway in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, celebrating the Year of the Snake! Until January 12th, trainers will encounter increased numbers of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper, with boosted Shiny Pokémon encounter rates.
This event follows the recent Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event, a fitting end to the Year of the Dragon. While Rayquaza is obtainable via the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, the boosted Shiny odds in the raid made it a highly sought-after opportunity.
This new event, running from January 9th to January 12th, offers players a chance to catch these serpentine Pokémon en masse. Silicobra will appear throughout Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Level ranges vary (10-65) based on game progression. To access the event, players must connect to the internet, access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News."

The future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet beyond this event remains uncertain, particularly with the anticipated launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed.
