Among the most eagerly awaited releases I covered last year, one that stands out is the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that emerged when the genre was still relatively new. Now, its sequel is set to launch in the third quarter of this year!
This eagerly anticipated "seaquel" returns players to the world of New Elysia, embarking on another thrilling journey across the ocean waves. Begin your adventure by choosing a character, a class ability, and a starting deck!
In Pirates Outlaws 2, you'll have the option to select from multiple characters, each with seven class options, customize your deck, and even recruit an animal companion to enhance the strategic depth of your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat, a new card evolution tree, and more, you'll have a plethora of tools at your disposal to conquer the seas!
Run out the guns
Pirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, allowing you to roam freely across the map and offering countless permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will be your first chance to get your hands on Pirates Outlaws 2!
My only concern stems from the animations showcased in the reveal trailer, which appear somewhat static. While fully animating these illustrations can be challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it hits mobile later this year.
If you're keen to stay ahead of the curve, why not stay "Ahead of the Game" as well? Start by checking out our regular weekly feature of the same name!
