Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage of its highly anticipated 2026 action game, *Onimusha: Way of the Sword*. Adding to the excitement, the game will feature the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, as its protagonist. This revelation came during a captivating trailer showcased at the PlayStation State of Play event.
While fans will have to wait until 2026 to experience *Onimusha: Way of the Sword*, the gameplay promises intense sword-based action and battles against formidable foes. The trailer not only highlighted Musashi's unparalleled sword skills but also showcased his roguish and comedic personality, adding depth to his character.
According to Capcom's press release, *Onimusha: Way of the Sword* is described as a dark fantasy action game set in a historical context, featuring one of Japan's most renowned figures. Interestingly, Musashi's character model in the game is inspired by the iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.
The game's narrative unfolds in Kyoto, a city overtaken by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning Hell and its denizens into Japan. This marks the first new entry in the *Onimusha* series in two decades. To build anticipation, Capcom has also announced the release of a remastered version of *Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny*, set to launch on May 23, 2025.
