Recent reports suggest a potential "Summer of Switch 2" in 2025, despite an anticipated April 2025 launch date for Nintendo's next-generation console. Meanwhile, Nintendo continues to focus on maximizing sales of the current Switch model.
Next Year Could Bring a "Summer of Switch 2"
Developers Eyeing an April/May 2025 Launch
Industry whispers indicate that the Switch 2's release is unlikely before April 2025. GamesIndustry.biz podcast host Chris Dring, citing conversations with game developers, stated that developers have been advised to not expect a launch within the current fiscal year (ending March 2025). Many developers reportedly hope for an April or May launch.
This projected launch window may be strategically timed to avoid competition with other major releases, such as the anticipated "GTA 6" launch in Fall 2025.
Further fueling speculation, journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe hinted at a possible Switch 2 announcement before August's end, according to BGR. This aligns with Nintendo's stated intention to announce the Switch 2 before the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2025). However, official confirmation from Nintendo is still pending.
