The long-awaited details about Nintendo's rumored Nintendo Switch upgrade have finally been unveiled, and the results are more impressive than many anticipated. The new Nintendo Switch 2 supports up to 120fps and can achieve 4K resolution when docked, showcasing significant enhancements over its predecessor.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo highlighted several key features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch screen compared to the original Switch, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With about double the pixels, it supports a 1080p resolution in handheld mode at up to 120fps. The screen is an LCD type and supports HDR, which extends to 4K resolution and HDR when docked.The Joy-Con 2 controllers introduce a magnetic connection system and can be detached by pressing a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing playability in horizontal mode, and the analog sticks on both the left and right controllers have been increased in size. This segment also officially unveiled mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and 3D audio capabilities for compatible games. Additionally, it features a more robust and adjustable stand compared to the original Nintendo Switch, allowing for various height adjustments. A top USB port is included for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in tabletop mode.
Moreover, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
