Microsoft's Edge Game Assist: A Game-Changing In-Game Browser
Edge Game Assist, Microsoft's new in-game browser, is now available in preview, promising a streamlined gaming experience. This innovative tool addresses the common frustration of switching between games and browsers.
Introducing the Game-Aware Tab
Microsoft acknowledges that many PC gamers use browsers while playing, for help, progress tracking, music, or chatting. The constant Alt-Tabbing disrupts gameplay. Edge Game Assist solves this by providing a seamless in-game browsing experience.
Edge Game Assist is the first in-game browser offering a rich, gaming-centric experience, accessing your browser data from both your PC and mobile devices. This overlay, accessible via the Game Bar, eliminates the need for Alt-Tabbing. Your bookmarks, history, cookies, and autofill data are all synced with your regular Edge browser, requiring no extra logins.
A key feature is the game-aware tab page. Recognizing that many gamers search for tips and guides mid-game, Edge Game Assist proactively suggests relevant resources. This tab can even be pinned for real-time access to guides, streamlining the process considerably.
Currently in beta, automatic guide suggestions are limited to a select group of popular games:
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Diablo IV
- Fortnite
- Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga
- League of Legends
- Minecraft
- Overwatch 2
- Roblox
- Valorant
More games will be added over time.
To try Edge Game Assist, download the Edge Beta or Preview version, set it as your default browser, then navigate to Settings, search for Game Assist, and install the widget.
