Marvel Rivals has made a significant U-turn on their latest update regarding player rank resets following widespread fan feedback. Dive into the details of the new changes and upcoming developments in the game.
Marvel Rivals Backtracks On Their Player Rank Reset
Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
Marvel Rivals has reversed their previous plans for player rank resets after receiving a wave of fan complaints. The official Marvel Rivals X (formerly Twitter) account posted an update detailing the changes to their seasonal rank adjustments, effectively retracting their initial plan.
The controversy arose after the game's Dev Talk 10, which introduced a system where players' ranks would reset every 45 days or mid-season, dropping them four divisions. Fans were quick to criticize this approach, arguing it was demotivating for those striving to advance in the rankings.
In response, the latest Dev Talk 11 confirms that there will be no mid-season rank resets. Players will keep their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, at the end of the season, ranks will still reset, with players dropping six divisions.
Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way
Despite the reversal on mid-season rank resets, other updates are still on track. The much-anticipated release of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, is set to proceed, expanding the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has confirmed that each season, lasting three months, will introduce two new playable characters.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain unchanged. Those achieving Gold rank or higher post-update will receive a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will be awarded Crests of Honor. Additionally, new rewards at the end of the season include another free costume for Gold rank players and Crests of Honor for those at Grandmaster and above.
While balance adjustments are slated to follow the mid-season update, specifics on these adjustments have yet to be disclosed.
