Marvel Rivals Now Releasing New Heroes Every Month Starting Season 3

In a bid to keep Marvel Rivals as engaging and fresh as its launch, NetEase has announced a thrilling update: starting from Season 3, they will introduce new heroes monthly, moving away from the previous model of two heroes per season. This exciting news was shared by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Marvel Rivals’ Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, alongside details on upcoming seasonal adjustments.

The developers have decided to shorten each season from three months to two, allowing them to roll out new heroes on a monthly basis. "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month," explained Guangguang.

Guangguang also acknowledged the pressure from social media discussions, which has motivated the team to keep the game exciting. They are considering adding new modes to enhance the game's appeal, which could be introduced in the future. This new schedule could lead to the addition of up to 12 heroes annually.

While this ambitious plan presents challenges, particularly in balancing the heroes, Guangguang highlighted the team's approach in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14. He emphasized the crucial role of data in balancing efforts, including pick rates, win rates, and other key metrics across all game modes.

Season 2, known as Hellfire Gala, brings players to the Mutant haven of the Living Island Krakoa, hosted by the upcoming hero Emma Frost. An X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds, Emma Frost will serve as a Vanguard in the game.

The season's trailer showcases a lavish celebration, with new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant formal wear. The Hellfire Gala theme is inspired by Marvel’s Hellfire Club, a society of the wealthy and elite who manipulate global events.
