Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Slays Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Units Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has reportedly surpassed 200,000 units sold, defying initial technical hiccups and controversy. This impressive sales figure demonstrates significant player demand for the action-packed title.

Developed by Dragami Games (not the original Grasshopper Manufacture), this remaster of the cult classic features enhanced visuals and improved gameplay. The game retains the signature over-the-top hack-and-slash combat, putting players in the chainsaw-wielding shoes of Juliet Starling as she battles hordes of zombies.

The milestone, announced via a Dragami Games tweet, encompasses sales across all current and last-gen consoles, plus PC. This success arrives several months after the September 2024 launch.

Celebrating Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Triumph

The game's narrative follows Juliet, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is invaded by the undead. Fans of titles like Bayonetta will appreciate the fast-paced, third-person action.

While the original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 boasted over a million units sold, RePOP's performance is still noteworthy. The original game's success was partly attributed to the unique collaboration between Goichi Suda (Grasshopper Manufacture) and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the story and writing.

The future of the Lollipop Chainsaw franchise remains uncertain, but RePOP's sales success bodes well for remasters of other niche titles. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, another updated classic now available on modern platforms.
