Hyper Light Breaker offers players a diverse range of characters, known as Breakers, each with unique playstyles to combat the formidable Abyss King. Unlocking new characters in this game is straightforward, yet the process isn't explicitly detailed in-game. This guide will walk you through how to unlock new Breakers and provide an overview of the characters available in the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker. We'll keep this guide updated as more characters become available.

How to Get New Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

To unlock new characters, you'll need to collect Abyss Stones, which are dropped exclusively by defeating Crowns, the game's bosses. Before you can face these bosses, you must first acquire Prisms, which serve as keys to the boss arenas. You can locate Prisms on the map by following the golden diamond icon.

After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost via the teleporter. Here, you can select the Breaker you wish to unlock and use your Abyss Stones to make them playable. While there are nine characters in total, only two are currently unlockable in the early access version. The method for unlocking the remaining characters is yet to be revealed.

All Characters in Hyper Light Breaker

Each character in Hyper Light Breaker comes equipped with a SyCom, a crucial item that sets their base stats and core perk, defining their unique playstyle. Here's a detailed look at each character and their playstyles:

Vermillion

Vermillion is the starting character, equipped with the Gunslinger SyCom, which enhances his ranged combat capabilities. His Rail shots have a chance to crit, and a critical hit guarantees the next shot will crit as well.

For players who prefer melee combat, Vermillion can unlock the Tank SyCom. This SyCom rewards perfect parries with increased armor and offers better defensive and melee stats, making it a safer choice overall.

Lapis

Lapis starts with the Lightweaver SyCom, which boosts the damage of her Rail shots after picking up a Battery. Her unique trait is the Warrior SyCom, which increases her core stats with each upgrade she receives.

Lapis is highly effective with either SyCom, but the Warrior SyCom makes her exceptionally powerful over time. With enough upgrades, Lapis can surpass other Breakers in terms of raw stats, turning her into a formidable force on the battlefield.

Goro

Goro is designed for ranged combat, starting with the Astrologer SyCom, which speeds up the charging of his Blade skills while shooting. He can also unlock the Sniper SyCom, which increases his critical hit rate.

Goro fits the archetype of a ranged glass cannon, boasting higher damage potential than Vermillion and Lapis but lacking in defensive capabilities. Mastering Goro requires skill, but when played effectively, he can be a devastating force against enemies.
